Singer Quratulain Balouch attacked by bear at Deosai National Park

Balouch sustains serious arm injuries but is in stable condition; authorities urge caution for visitors in wildlife zones

Renowned Pakistani singer Quratulain Balouch was injured on Thursday after being attacked by a Himalayan brown bear at Deosai National Park, near the famed Bara Pani tourist site.
Eyewitnesses reported that Ms. Balouch was camping with her companions when the bear suddenly appeared and attacked. She sustained serious injuries to her arm during the incident.
Her driver, Muhammad Ibrahim June is being hailed as a hero for bravely confronting the animal and shielding the singer. Photographer Shehbaz and several locals also intervened, managing to drive the bear away.
Ms. Balouch received first aid on the spot before being rushed to DHQ Hospital Skardu, where doctors confirmed her condition is now stable and she has been discharged.
Following the attack, authorities once again urged visitors to exercise extreme caution in Deosai and other wildlife zones. Officials advised tourists to:
Avoid walking after sunset,
Make noise to alert animals of human presence,
Secure food supplies properly and
Camp only in designated areas.
Home to one of the world’s highest plateaus, Deosai National Park is a critical habitat for the endangered Himalayan brown bear. Experts noted that this incident is a stark reminder of the importance of respecting wildlife and practicing responsible tourism.
